Fort Myers Spring Break
Below are photos taken during a Spring Break trip to Fort Myers, Flordida, March 11-19, 2005.

We prepare to leave on Friday afternoon.

The 30 hour bus ride commences.

We make a nighttime stop at a rest stop in Kentucky.

Our bus breaks down for a few hours somewhere in Georgia around lunchtime, so we have some fun at a flea market, and get lunch.

And here we are getting fixed up. One of the two minivans in our caravan decided to leave us and head for Florida. We arrived Sunday morning around 2:00 A.M., far behind schedule.

This is our group outside of First United Methodist Church where we were staying, getting ready to head to the beach for a day of fun.

Quickly recognized as midwesterners, we wandered aimlessly around looking for the public beach.

We look for lunch in a little market behind the beach.

I stand in the rather chilly Gulf of Mexico. (I later got in up to my waist while throwing frisbee. No wonder all the natives were just laying on the sand.)

We find a sea cucumber that had washed up.

Throwing frisbees out in the water.

We do a bit of relaxing on the beach.

Luke Gleaves gets some height while trying to catch a football.

We decided this boat had seen some better days. There was a "Vessel Assist" truck nearby, but we never saw them do anything.

Someone scared a bunch of birds, so I took a picture.

Poor fellow got completely buried.

Kevin cooks 160 hot dogs, not all at once, for dinner.

We take the trolley back to our vehicles, totally freaking out the driver.

We hang out after supper back home.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Cape Coral, Florida, where my team worked.

Leigh Ann and Angela digs some holes for fence posts.

And you thought I didn't do any work.

Look at that soon to be beautiful fence.

Here we get a peak at Lee Johnson, who oversaw our work.

Later that night, my group makes this cool mascot.

The next days, the girls painted while Lee and I worked on the fence.

Look who I found at the worksite.

The EPC bought us food 3 of our 4 days there. This day it was Chinese.

My small group walked out here one night.

Here we are putting up the fence proper. I'd like to see a hurricane take that down.

We walked here to do some baptisms.

Our final day on the worksite, it rained, so we spent the morning painting indoors.

The last day, they took us out to Jason's Deli for lunch.

In the afternoon, we drove out to this beach on Sanibel, where we saw dolphins through the rain.

A few more baptisms that night.

The bus prepares to leave on Friday morning.

We come across the Mississippi River back into Missouri.
